Invitation To Apply (ITA)

Invitation To Apply (ITA)

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issues ITAs to qualified individuals in the Express Entry program. Receiving the ITA is a major milestone in the process, bringing you closer to achieving your goal of moving to Canada. However, the process of preparing and filing your application for Permanent Residence can be complex. Consulting an experienced immigration expert can ensure you meet all requirements, avoid mistakes, and maximize your chances of success.

Various Situations as well as Activities

Once you receive an ITA, there are three possible outcomes. If you accept the ITA, you will need to submit a complete profile by the given deadline.

Possible SituationsThe ReasonsWhat Happens Next
The ITA is approvedAcceptance means submitting a complete profile in 60 days.IRCC will review the application. Most applications are processed within six months.
The ITA is rejectedCandidate clicks the appropriate button on an ITA notice.A profile of a candidate is returned to the pool, where it is considered in future draws.
The ITA can expireThe selected applicant does not submit the application in 60 days.In case an individual wants to move to Canada via the Express Entry program, they will need to create the new profile.

Handling the Invitation to Apply (ITA) Process

Every 2 weeks, IRCC holds selections to choose candidates for Express Entry. People with higher CRS scores are invited to submit an application for permanent residency.

If the candidate is not selected, their profile in the Express Entry will remain in the pool for 12 months. So, if they do not receive an ITA within a few months after submitting their profile through the IRCC website, it is a good idea to explore options to boost their CRS score.

The ITA remains valid for 60 days, and extensions are not given. It is best idea to start collecting all required documents as soon as your profile is submitted for the Express Entry. This will give you enough time to submit your application for Permanent Residency before 60 days are over.

Important Documents Needed for an ITA

When creating the profile for Express Entry, candidates must provide their proof of education as well as language skills. Other parts of a profile are based on self-reported information. However, detailed documents will be needed during the final application submission.

The list of required documents depends on the program that is mentioned in an ITA. It may also vary based on factors like the nationality of an applicant, work experience, and education. However, the documents listed below are crucial for all programs.

  • Birth certificate
  • Valid passport
  • Language test results
  • Proof of medical exam
  • Recent photograph
  • Reference letter from previous employers
  • Certificate of police clearance

These are just a few of documents that you will need to upload at the time of applying for permanent residency. You might not be able to collect all the required documents within the 60-day deadline. Getting an ITA doesn’t guarantee that your application of permanent residency will be approved. Taking the necessary steps and preparing in advance can boost your chances to become successful in immigrating to the Canada. Starting to gather your documents early is important to avoid mistakes and last-minute stress. It is a good idea to consult an experienced immigration expert to make sure your application is accurate and complete.
