Post-Invitation To Apply (ITA)

Post-Invitation To Apply (ITA)

IRCC sends ITA to individuals in the Express Entry System according to their CRS scores. An ITA is a digital document that is sent to the candidates who match the requirements in the Express Entry applications. The ITA is a message sent to certain people in the Express Entry System, inviting them to apply for permanent residence. Completing an e-APR is often a complicated process. To make it easier, you can get help from an experienced immigration consultant.

Next Steps After Receiving an ITA

After receiving an ITA, you must submit your e-APR via the IRCC portal within 60 days. You will need to quickly upload the required scanned documents correctly to confirm that you accept the ITA.

IRCC usually processes most of the e-APRs in a period of six months. Once it is approved, you and your family will receive visas to travel to Canada. When you arrive at the Canadian border, you will be given your official Permanent Residency documents. It is important to regularly renew your Permanent Resident card to keep your PR status valid. Following the requirements for Permanent Residency is necessary to maintain your PR status.

Documents Needed to Submit Your e-APR

When submitting your e-APR, applicants will need to provide documents that prove the information on their Express Entry profile. You will also need additional documents to show you are eligible to enter Canada. These must be in the English language or can also be in French. Moreover, you will need certified translations if they are in any other language.

Below are the important documents you will be required to submit with your e-APR:

  • Personal Identity and Civil Status Documents: This includes passports for you and any family members traveling with you. You will also have to provide your birth certificates as well as documents that show your marital status.
  • Language Proficiency Test Results: Even though IRCC can obtain your results directly, it is recommended to submit them yourself to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Documents of Work Experience: You will need to provide reference letters with details about your job, such as your title, employment dates, and salary. Applicants should also include contract copies, payslips, and any other documents that match the information in the Express Entry System.
  • Education Documents: Provide all your educational qualifications listed in your Express Entry profile, along with your transcripts and official Educational Credential Assessment report.
  • Financial Proof Documents: These documents prove that you have enough money to efficiently support yourself as well as your family when you arrive in Canada. The amount you need depends on your family size as well as covers the costs of settling in Canada.
  • Documents for Police Clearance: You need to submit a police clearance certificate (PCC) for yourself and all family members to show a clean criminal record. The PCC is valid for only 12 months, so wait until you receive your ITA before getting one to avoid it expiring. Keep in mind that obtaining a PCC can take time. After receiving your ITA, you only have 60 days to apply for Canadian PR. If you have applied for the PCC but have not received it yet, submit proof of your application with your PR application to buy extra time.
  • Medical Examination Clearance Documents: Digital copies must be provided of your medical exam results.
  • Photos: 2 digital photos of yourself, your spouse/partner, and each child who relies on you.
  • Copy of Provincial Nomination: If your Express Entry System includes a Provincial Nomination, it is important to provide a copy of a nomination certificate.
  • Job Offer Support Documents: You don’t need a job offer to submit an e-APR, but if you mentioned a single one in your Express Entry System, you will need to include proof of it.
  • Proof of Relatives in Canada: If you mentioned having any relatives in Canada in your Express Entry profile, provide accurate documents to prove it.

If you cannot provide any required documents, explain the reason and share the steps you are taking to get them. It is good to seek help from a qualified immigration expert to avoid problems with missing documents.

Expiration of an ITA

An ITA is valid for 60 days. If you don’t submit your permanent residence application within this period, the ITA will expire, and you will have to rejoin the Express Entry pool.
