The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) formerly known as the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) provides graduates entrepreneurs and skilled workers with a route to permanent residence in Canada through a provincial nomination from Alberta.
Alberta Immigration Streams

1. The Alberta Opportunity Stream:
A stream for qualified individuals who are employed in Alberta now and have a legitimate offer of employment from an Alberta company.
2. Alberta Express Entry Stream:
This stream, which is in line with the federal Express Entry system, enables Alberta to designate applicants from the Express Entry pool who can satisfy its labor market demands or who have close ties to the province.
3. Alberta Accelerated Tech Pathway:
Designed for tech workers, this pathway expedites the immigration process for those who have received job offers in the province’s tech sector.
4. Rural Renewal Stream:
To promote balanced regional growth, this stream targets applicants who have job offers in rural Alberta communities.
5. Farm Stream:
Offers financial assistance and farming experience to people looking to buy and start a farm in Alberta.
6. Graduate Entrepreneur Stream:
Serves foreign graduates who want to start or run a business in Alberta after completing post-secondary education in the province.
7. Foreign Graduate Entrepreneur Stream:
A stream that is made for recent graduates with foreign education who want to start a new or creative company in Alberta.
Express Entry Overview
Three economic immigration categories are administered by the federal immigration program known as Express Entry.
- Federal Skilled Worker Program.
- The Program for Federal Skilled Trades.
- The Canadian Experience Course.

Alberta Opportunity Stream

This stream requires that candidates receive a Notification of Interest (NOI) from the AAIP they are not permitted to apply directly.
Self-Employed Farmer Stream
This stream is for people who have:
- Experience with farming.
- Individual funds for the acquisition and development of an Albertan farm.
A thorough proposal for a farming enterprise that the applicant intends to start in the province must be submitted.
International Graduate Entrepreneur Immigration Stream
International graduates from Alberta’s post-secondary institutions are the target audience for this stream.
- Complete two years or more of full-time coursework in Alberta.
- Hold a work permit after graduation.
- Have the intention of starting or running a company in Alberta.
Additionally, applicants must fulfill particular operational and ownership requirements for the business they intend to start.
Foreign Graduate Start-Up Stream
Graduates with foreign educations are the target audience for this stream.
- Within the last two years, have earned a degree.
- Have an innovative business plan for a start-up in Alberta.
- Possess a minimal amount of ownership in the suggested company.
Additionally, applicants need to obtain a letter of support from a designated agency.
Rural Entrepreneur Stream
For applicants who want to launch a business in Alberta’s rural areas, there is a Rural Entrepreneur Stream. Due to the community-driven nature of this stream, entrepreneurs who want to start a business in rural Alberta must first get in touch with a participating community and arrange an exploratory visit. The entrepreneur is required to submit a business proposal detailing the venture and its advantages for the community following the exploratory visit. The entrepreneur is then given a supporting letter.
- Following community support the foreign national submits an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the AAIP.
- Within the last ten years, you must have at least three years of experience as an active business owner or manager or four years of experience as a senior manager.
- A minimum of a high school diploma recognized by the Education Credential Assessment (ECA) that meets Canadian standards.
- Possess a minimum of four levels of proficiency in either French or English as determined by the Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens (NCLC) or the Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB).
- A minimum of $300000 in net worth is required.
- A minimum of $200000 must be invested from the candidates’ own equity as well as that of their spouse or common-law partner.
- A letter of community support from a participating rural Alberta community is required.

AINP stands for Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program. People are nominated for permanent residency in Alberta through the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AINP) which is now called the AAIP.
Direct application is not accepted. As an alternative, the AAIP must send them a Notification of Interest (NOI) based on their Express Entry profile.
